Even while power hungry politicians are screaming for strong action against Pakistan in the wake of the Mumbai attacks, social workers and the media have been cautioning against escalating the tension that could lead to war. But the fact is…we need a war!! No this is not anti-Pakistan or anti-Islam sentiment speaking, but my crystal-clear, rational mind. For heavens sake we need a war. Look around you, the corrupt politicians, the lazy bureaucrats – I tell you we need a war. If not against Pakistan, then we could fight America or bomb China or maybe even Scotland (I hear they are fierce warriors). We need a violent shake up. The strongest empires are those that were built on violence and washed with centuries of blood.
“Those who make peaceful changes impossible make bloody revolutions imperative”
Israel is bombing Palestine; in Sri Lanka the lions are fighting the tigers. What is the use of standing mutely? I mean the terrorists, from Pakistan, keep hitting us at regular intervals and all we do is express anguish, pain, protest, renounce, threaten, etc, etc. and then we get hit again. It’s not going to stop. So will a war bring peace? Maybe not. But then what difference will it make. Let everyone take up arms – let’s fight, lets spill some blood and guts. Maybe we will win and maybe we will lose. Its not about winning or losing. Its about living, and dying, with honour.
Remember “Permanent peace is never possible.”

Because Israel was attacking Palestine and Srilankan civil war was killing many we should also have a war??? Its like saying since everyone else is fighting and we dont want to sit quietly, we shall also pick up arms and fight someone! Why? Cause we feel left alone???
Sitting mutely doesnt help, agreed! But what earthly use does killing people have???
You do realize war is not about removing evil elements out of the world! People die - thousands of innocent people! For no God-darn fault of theirs! War should be a complete NO-NO anywhere in this world!
Thanks for the anger and voice of sanity (in a world going completely insane).
"war is not about removing evil elements out of the world". Right. It is about removing unwanted elements. Every couple hundred of years a violent change occurs in society or in the environment. That's how new elements are created in this world. Something has to die for something to grow. And the fact is there is a clash of civilizations going on and a war is inevitable. So why prolong the wait? War is not the end of civilization just as death is not the end of life. Wars have been raging on for hundreds of years and we still live to write about it. The universe was created in a big bang and later on the human race survived only because the dinosaurs were wiped out( again due to another impact explosion). Our holy books of Ramayana and Mahabharatha are glorified tales of war.
And about people dying...people always die. We are born so that one day we can die. Every day people get run over by buses, get hit by lightning, drown in floods and tsunamies, fall down from trees, get bitten by poisonous snakes or fall into septic tanks. Now whose god-darn fault is that??
You ask "why"...i just ask "why not"
"Every reason for living is also a reason for dying"
