"തൊഴിലാളി വര്‍ഗത്തിന് അധികാരം കിട്ടിയാല്‍ പിന്നെ അവരായി അധികാരി വര്‍ഗം"
ജനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക്‌ സംരക്ഷണം നല്‍കാന്‍ പോലീസ് സ്റ്റേഷന് ,ആ പോലീസ് സ്റ്റേഷന് സംരക്ഷണം നല്‍കാന്‍ മറ്റൊരു കാക്കി പട. ഇത് അങ്ങ് ബംഗാളിലെ ലാല്‍ഗദ്ടില്‍ അല്ല നമ്മുടെ തലസ്ഥാന നഗരിയിലെ പേരൂര്‍ക്കട യിലാണ്. ഈ സ്റ്റേഷനിലെ പോലീസുകാരെ മര്യാദ പഠിപ്പിക്കാന്‍ അടിക്കടി കുറച്ചു സദാചാര ബോധമുള്ള സഖാക്കള്‍ എത്തും.ഇ കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസവും ഒരു സംഘം ഡി.വെയ്.എഫ്.ഐ ക്കാര്‍ സ്റ്റേഷന് ആക്രമിച്ച്‌ എസ്‌.ഐ യെയും വനിതാ കോണ്‍സ്റ്റബിള്‍ നെയും പരിക്കേല്‍പ്പിച്ചു. മുഴുവന്‍ പ്രതികളെയും ഇതുവരെ പിടികൂടാന്‍ പോലും ആയില്ല . ആക്രമണത്തിനു നേത്രത്വം നല്‍കിയ ഡി.വെയ്.എഫ് .ഐ നേതാവ് അനില്‍കുമാറിനെ മാത്രമാണ് ഇതുവരെ അറസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്തത്‌. കഴിഞ്ഞ നാലു മാസത്തിനിടെയില്‍ ഇത് രണ്ടാം തവണയാണ് അക്രമണം.ഇടതുപക്ഷ സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ അധികാരത്തിലേറിയ ശേഷം കേരളത്തില്‍ ഇത് ഒരു തുടര്‍കഥയാണ്. മന്ത്രിമാര്‍ സ്റ്റേഷന് ഇലെത്തി പ്രതികളെ ഇറക്കികൊണ്ട് പോയ സംഭവത്തിനു വരെ നമ്മള്‍ സാക്ഷികളായി. ഇത്തരത്തില്‍ സഖാക്കള്‍ നിയമം കയ്യിലെടുക്കുകയാണെങ്കില്‍ നമ്മുകെന്തിനാനൊരു പോലീസ് സേന.

SECOND DOCU AND SHORT FILM FESTIVAL
The second edition of documentry and short film festival concluded on 25th of june with a grand closing ceremany.Bilal a film by savrav sarangi won award for the best long documentry film. The award for best short documentry film was shared by kannam and ripples directed by Babu Kambratt and M.R Sashidharan. Hell by nandalala and stations by Emmanual Palo shared award for best short fiction film. Sacred Eggs by K.P Muraleedharan bagged award for best animation film .Gaon Chhodab Nahin by K.P.sasi won award for best musical video.Motion by Anirban Datta won special mention in long documentry section. Thus the festival was interesting with more than 225 films.

Grew up with, forgot later 'n now mourn for: MJ
I grew up in the 90s. And like most kids who grew up in 90s, Tom and Jerry, Magi Noodles and Michael Jackson were part of my life.
To tell I grew up singing Jackson's songs everyday would be an exaggeration - being in Kerala. But as far as English songs went, MJ's was the first name that every child got introduced to.
In those days... my bro would claim he knew exactly how to do the moonwalk and do what looked like Bugs Bunny trying to balance on Elmer's head (that is a rabbit on a man's head, for those unfamiliar with the cartoon). I believed him of course and did an even worse imitation, ending up crawling on and squishing the floor.
'Dangerous' was forever in our tape recorder and we'd sing 'The girl is so dangerous' on the top of our voice. Bro even had these special music quizzes with me scoring 10 on 10 cause Michael would inevitably be the answer to all his questions.
We are the world, Black or White, Heal the World were all part of our daily singing exercise that lasted an hour long. Thriller, Bad, Billy Joe, Annie are you ok would come too some days.
Years went by and the MJ glory began to fade. Maybe it was the controversies. Or maybe it was just that people do not stick to one thing for long. But to see the same guy who made his fans faint out of love and adoration at one time, now hated and condemned - well it makes you wonder about life: does anything last?
Yes it does. His music for one. His songs. His dance. His moonwalks.
Today morning a friend told me over phone Michael Jackson has died. For at least an hour I was in shock. I haven't thought of this guy in years. I haven't sung his songs or bothered of what he was up to. I opened my email and wrote to my bro "MJ :-(". He wrote back "Yea... Pity".
Stars like him do leave a mark, it may only be at the end that you realise how big the mark is. And then all that you forgot over the years, comes alive. RIP, MJ.
But let his music live forever.
"Heal the world, Make it a better place,
For you and for me and the entire human race
There are people dying if you care enough for the living
Make a better place, for you and for me."

കേരളം കാലവര്‍ഷക്കെടുതിയില്‍
കാലവര്‍ഷക്കെടുതിയുടെ ഭാഗമായി സംസ്ഥാനത്ത് പലയിടത്തും പകര്‍ച്ചപനിയും, മറ്റു രോഗങ്ങളും പടര്‍ന്ന്‌ പിടിക്കുകയാണ്. ആലപ്പുഴ ജില്ലയില്‍ മാത്രം പനിബാധിതരുടെ എണ്ണം 25,000 കവിഞ്ഞു. രോഗം തടയുന്നതിനോടൊപ്പം രോഗബാധിതര്‍ക്ക് യഥാസമയം ചികിത്സ എത്തിക്കാന്‍ വേണ്ടി സംസ്ഥാന ആരോഗ്യവകുപ്പ് ക്രിയാത്മകമായ നടപടികള്‍ എടുക്കേണ്ടതുണ്ട്. മറ്റു ജില്ലകളില്ലും സമാനമായ പ്രശ്നങ്ങള്‍ ഉണ്ടാകാനുള്ള സാദ്ധ്യതകള്‍ തള്ളികളയാനാവില്ല . സംസ്ഥാനത്തെ ആയിരക്കണക്കിനുള്ള സന്നദ്ധ സംഘടനകള്‍ കര്‍മോത്സുകരായി ഒരു യുദ്ധകാലാടിസ്ഥാനത്തില്‍ ദുരിതാശ്വാസ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങള്‍ നടത്താത്തപക്ഷം കേരളം വലിയ പ്രതിസന്ധിയിലേക്ക് കടക്കും. ഡോക്ടര്‍മാരുടെയും, മറ്റു ആതുര സേവകരുടെയും നിസ്സുഃര്‍്തധമായ പരിശ്രമത്തിന്റ്റെ ഫലമായി മാത്രമെ ഈ പ്രശ്നത്തിന് ഒരു പരിഹാരം നേടാന്‍ സാധിക്കു.
നമ്മുടെ മൂല്യങ്ങള്‍
നാം മലയാളികള്‍ ഏറ്റവും വില കല്‍പ്പിക്കുന്നത് കുടുംബം എന്ന സങ്കല്പ്പതിനാണ്. ഒരു വിട്ടു വീഴ്ച്ചയ്കും തയ്യാറാകാതെ നാം ആ സങ്കല്‍പ്പത്തെ നെഞ്ചോട് ചേര്ത്തു പിടിച്ചു. അതിന് വേണ്ടി നഷ്ടമാക്കേണ്ടി വന്ന സര്ഗാത്മകതയെയും വ്യക്തി സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യത്തെയും നാം തമസ്കരിച്ചു. സമൂഹത്തിന്റെ കെട്ടുറപ്പിന് ആ ബന്ധനം ആവശ്യമാണെന്ന് അന്ഗീകരിക്കുംപോഴും, അത് സാര്‍വജനീനമായി അന്ഗീകരിക്കണം എന്ന പിടി വാശി പാടില്ല. ആ സങ്കല്‍പ്പത്തിന് പുറത്ത്‌ നില്‍ക്കുവാന്‍ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവരെ മാന്യതയോടെ പരിഗണിക്കാന്‍ നാം പക്വത നേടണം.
പ്രണയ ആഭിമുഖ്യം ഇല്ലാത്ത സമൂഹം ആയി ആണ് മലയാളികളെ പൊതുവെ പറയാറ്‌. ഇത്ര പ്രണയ വൈമുഖ്യം നമുക്ക്‌ എങ്ങനെ വന്നു? ഭാരതീയ ഇതിഹാസങ്ങള്‍ പ്രണയത്തിന്റെ ദൈവികതയെ ആദരിച്ചിരുന്നു. രാധാ-കൃഷ്ണ പ്രണയം ഉത്തമമായ പ്രണയ മാതൃക അയിരുന്നു. എന്നാല്‍ കേരളത്തിന്റെ ചരിത്രവും കഥകളും പ്രണയത്തില്‍ ഊന്നി ഉള്ളത്‌ അല്ല. നമ്മുടെ നായകന്മാരും നായികമാരും ഉത്തമ കുടുംബസ്തര്‍ ആയിരുന്നു. ഇതേ രീതിയിലുള്ള സദാചാര ക്രമത്തെ തുടര്‍ന്നും നാം പിന്‍തുടരുക ആയിരുന്നു.
മരുമക്കത്തായ ദായ ക്രമത്തില്‍ സ്ഥിതി മറ്റൊന്നാനെന്കിലും സ്ത്രീകള്‍ കുടുംബം എന്ന സ്ഥാപനത്തിന്റെ ഇരകള്‍ ആയിരുന്നു. അവളുടെ പ്രണയ ജീവിതം വിവാഹം എന്ന ആചാരതിലെക്ക് ഉള്ള ചവിട്ടു പടികള്‍ മാത്രം ആയിരുന്നു. നിരുപാധികമായി പ്രണയിക്കുക എന്ന ചിന്തയെ അംഗീകരിക്കാന്‍ നമ്മുടെ മനസ്സ്‌ വളര്‍ന്നിരുന്നില്ല. വിവാഹ ബന്ധം പ്രണയ ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ അവസാനം എന്ന ധാരണ പരത്തുകയും എന്നാല്‍ അതിനെതിരെ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കയും ചെയ്യുക ആയിരുന്നു പരക്കെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന രീതി. ആ നിയമത്തിന്റെ ബലിയാടുകള്‍ ആയത് സ്ത്രീകള്‍ ആയിരുന്നു. അത് കൊണ്ടു തന്നെ മാധവിക്കുട്ടി യുടെ തുറന്നെഴുത്തുകള്‍ കേട്ട ഫ്യൂഡല്‍ സമൂഹത്തിനു അതിനെ വിലയിരുത്താന്‍ ഉള്ള സഹിഷ്ണുത ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല.
ഇവിടെ വിവാഹം എന്നത് ഒരാളുടെ പരമമായ ജീവിത ലക്ഷ്യം ആണെന്ന ചിന്ത എങ്ങനെയോ കടന്നു കൂടിയിരിക്കുന്നു. ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ ഒരു അനിവാര്യത ആയ സ്ത്രീ പുരുഷ ബന്ധത്തെ അത് അര്‍ഹിക്കുന്നതില്‍ കൂടുതല്‍ പ്രാധാന്യത്തോടെ നാം ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു. വിവാഹങ്ങള്‍ ഉത്സവങ്ങള്‍ ആയി മാറുന്നു. ബ്രോയിലര്‍ കോഴികളെ പോലെ വളര്‍ത്തി,പഠിപ്പിച്ച് , വിവാഹിതരാക്കി മക്കളെ പരിപൂര്‍ണരാക്കുന്ന രക്ഷ കര്‍ത്താക്കള്‍ പെരുകി വരുന്നു. അവിടെ സ്ത്രീയും പുരുഷനും വില പേശപ്പെടുകയാണ്. സമ്പത്തിന്റെയും വിദ്യാഭ്യാസത്തിന്റെയും പദവിയുടെയും പേരിലുള്ള ഈ കച്ചവടത്തില്‍ രണ്ടു പേരുടേയും മാനസിക തലങ്ങള്‍ കാര്യമാക്കാറില്ല. ഇതാണ് വര്‍ദ്ധിച്ചു വരുന്ന വിവാഹ മോച്ചനങ്ങല്ക് കാരണം ആകുന്നത്.

So why do we need such a day? To celebrate our world ocean, and our connection to it.
The official website reminds you of a number of reasons why we should - your oxygen, your water, food, medicines and climate control, among many others.
What the ocean-day project wants us to do is stop taking the world's ocean for granted. World's Ocean Day is a reminder to change perspective, learn, change our ways and celebrate.
Every part of the world is involved in a number of activities to celebrate the day.
India is having a photographic exhibition on Ocean at Mumbai today to draw attention to the deteriorating coastal areas in India. The exhibition, arranged by The Institute of Science, aims to create awareness among fishermen, school-children and others. In Chennai, a quiz show is being conducted today, on oceans of the world.

Say Green on WED

5 Jun 2009: It is June 5 again, which means it is that time of the year when the world remembers it is time for some greenness. It is World Environment Day. In short, it is WED.
WED was first launched in 1972 by the United Nations General Assembly, which means we are celebrating its 37th anniversary today. The day's agenda is:
* Give a human face to environmental issues
* Empower people to become active agents of sustainable and equitable development
* Promote an understanding that communities are pivotal to changing attitudes towards environmental issues
* Advocate partnership which will ensure all nations and peoples enjoy a safer and more prosperous future
Every year UN celebrates this day with a theme, a host city, a slogan and some events. This year's theme and slogan is 'Your Planet Needs You-UNite to Combat Climate Change'. Mexico is the host city. Countries are planning to observe the day with a number of events and activities.
It is no surprise that climate change has become the focus this year. Even after increasing warnings by word of mouth, emails and websites, sessions and conferences, awareness campaigns and speeches, a good part of the world still chooses to be indifferent to the cause.
A number of youth groups and environmentalists have emerged to spread the message, to alert and seek urgent attention to the cause.
On this day, as activists all over the world keep at their efforts in telling the world 'This is for us, this is for our children', every one of us can stop for a moment and wonder what all the hue and cry is about anyway.
What about Earth?
What would happen to dear Earth that has borne generations for eons? What would happen to the future generations? Before we shrug and say 'Who knows', we can do a little mind game. Imagine we are part of the generation yet to be born. Imagine we are those unfortunate ones who are to suffer the effects of what previous generations had done by turning away from the cries of a pained Earth. Being born into a world that was in the ruins because the people who lived there did not care for it - that is not what we want is it?
The first thing to do is shed off the thought that 'We are safe anyway, we don't need to worry about the future of this planet'. The earth has been a home to us all these years. It is time to give our home some attention. It is time to say 'I care'.
Be it taking cloth bags to shop to avoid using plastic, or switching off lights you don't need, or saving a drop of water everyday, or saving a piece of paper by printing on both sides - let it be small, but when every one of us are alert and at it all the time, it is going to make a great difference.
On this day, on WED, let us try to understand what danger we are in, and what we can do to protect our planet. On this day, each of us can make a silent oath to do our part in making the world a greener place, in making it a safe haven for generations to come.

സംസ്ഥാനചലച്ചിത്ര അവാര്‍ഡുകള്‍ പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു. മികച്ച കഥാചിത്രത്തിനും മികച്ച സംവിധായകനും മികച്ച തിരക്കഥാകൃത്തിനുമുള്ള അവാര്‍ഡുകള്‍ അടൂര്‍ ഗോപാലകൃഷ്‌ണനാണ്‌. അടൂരിന്റെ ഒരുപെണ്ണും രണ്ടാണും ആണ് മികച്ച ചിത്രം. മികച്ച നടനായി തലപ്പാവിലെ അഭിനയത്തിന്‌ ലാലിനെയും വിലാപങ്ങള്‍ക്കപ്പുറത്ത്‌ എന്ന ചിത്രത്തിലെ അഭിനയത്തിന്‌ പ്രിയങ്കയെയും തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു. സാസ്‌ക്കാരിക മന്ത്രി എം എ ബേബിയാണ്‌ പുരസ്‌കാരങ്ങള്‍ പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചത്‌. മികച്ച കലാമൂല്യവും ജനപ്രീതിയുമുള്ള ചിത്രം സത്യന്‍ അന്തിക്കാടിന്റെ ഇന്നത്തെ ചിന്താവിഷയമാണ്‌. മികച്ച സംവിധായകനുള്ള ജൂറിയുടെ പ്രത്യേക അവാര്ഡ് ബയോസ്‌കോപ്പിന്റെ സംവിധായകനായ മധുസൂദനന്‌ ലഭിക്കും. മികച്ച നവാഗതസംവിധായകനായി തലപ്പാവിന്റെ സംവിധായകനായ
മധുപാലിനെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു. ടി വി ചന്ദ്രന്‍ സംവിധാനം ചെയ്‌ത
