7 reasons the world will end in 2012
1. Mayan CalendarThe first mob to predict 2012 as the end of the world were the Mayans, a bloodthirsty race that were good at two things:Building highly accurate astrological equipment out of stone andSacrificing Virgins.Thousands of years ago they managed to calculate the length of the lunar moon as 329.53020 days, only 34 seconds out. The Mayan calendar predicts that the Earth will end on December 21, 2012. Given that they were pretty close to the mark with the lunar cycle, it's likely they've got the end of the world right as well.
Solar experts from around the world monitoring the sun have made a startling discovery: our sun is in a bit of strife. The energy output of the sun is, like most things in nature, cyclic, and it's supposed to be in the middle of a period of relative stability. However, recent solar storms have been bombarding the Earth with so much radiation energy, it's been knocking out power grids and destroying satellites. This activity is predicted to get worse, and calculations suggest it'll reach its deadly peak sometime in 2012
Super VolcanoYellowstone National Park in the United States is famous for its thermal springs and Old Faithful geyser. The reason for this is simple - it's sitting on top of the world's biggest volcano, and geological experts are beginning to get nervous sweats. The Yellowstone volcano has a pattern of erupting every 650,000 years or so, and we're many years overdue for an explosion that will fill the atmosphere with ash, blocking the sun and plunging the Earth into a frozen winter that could last up to 15,000 years. The pressure under the Yellowstone is building steadily, and geologists have set 2012 as a likely date for the big bang

lessons in logic
If your father is a poor man,it is your fate but, if your father-in-law is a poor man,it's your stupidity.
Practice makes perfect..... But nobody's perfect......so why practice?
If it's true that we are here to help others, then what exactly are the others here for?
Since light travels faster than sound, people appear bright until you hear them speak.
How come "abbreviated" is such a long word?
Money is not everything. There's Mastercard & Visa
One should love animals. They are so tasty.
Behind every successful man, there is a woman
And behind every unsuccessful man, there are two
women.
Every man should marry. After all, happiness is not the only thing in life.
The wise never marry.and when they marry they become otherwise. .
Success is a relative term. It brings so many relatives.
Never put off the work till tomorrowwhat you can put off today.
"Your future depends on your dreams"So go to sleep
There should be a better way to start a day Than waking up every morning
"
Hard work never killed anybody"But why take the risk .
"
Work fascinates me"I can look at it for hours
God made relatives;Thank God we can choose our friends.
The more you learn, the more you know,The more you know, the more you forget The more you forget, the less you knowSo.. why learn.
A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops. On my desk, I have a work station.... what more can I say........
Why in this world I should die? Because I forgot to think…………
The deadline of election campaign ended in clash.hundreds of people including six policemen were injured in clashes in kozhikode. Mr N.K.Damodaran Namboodiri B J P candidate in kottayam constituency also injured in violence. The L D F and U D F supporters fought eachother in malappuram district and the police fired in the air and lobbed teargas shells to disperse violence.
candidates(from student leader to UN under secretary general) are investing more and more money knowing that they could get back their investment with enormous profit.but I don’t know why these foolish people fight for them.eventhough supporters fight and die for them, the leaders or parties have nothing to lose. Kerala is state with zen percent literacy, most of the youth of kerala are well educated ,now its time for them to think and realise why people of our state is still like some of those in North India ? If we die fighting for our country its patriotism, fighting eachother inside the country is “foolishness”.

The Lopsided Bureaucracy
The master-slave relationship that still seems to exist within the Indian bureaucracy is a sure indication of its lopsided perspective. The recent election-related incident at Vadakara can be taken as an example at hand. An IAS officer from Gujarat, Mr. Darbar humiliated Mr. Supi, a member of the Assistant Returning Officer's team, by making him perform "etham". This incident, it may be recalled, had generated much public outrage. Finally the Election Commissioner stepped in and took action against the offending official. But, if one is looking for real solutions, one needs to look beyond such measures to the very roots of the problem itself.
Indian bureaucrats, of every region, are widely believed to treat their subordinates rudely and high-handedly. This problem should first be acknowledged and then studied in detail.
As an initial step towards a solution, one might try to reduce the perceived class distinction between "high" officials and their subordinates by going beyond rules-of-conduct written ages ago. A new approach to inter-personal relationships based on our hard earned democratic values can thus be intoroduced.
A complete renovation of the value system of our bureaucracy along these lines may indeed be the need of the time.

Sleeping Tina
Mine eyes are drooping hard and fast
Unless I do a thing right now
To keep it open wide 'n wake
They’d fall upon mine eyelids soon
And take mine head down on this desk
Until it hits so hard and loud
And wake me up in thunder blues
Did mine head just tilt that side
And give a jolt that shook me up?
Yes it did, and now I am up
To see a pair of eyes that stared…
He kept teaching, did he not see -
Of all those eyes that looked at him
With heads on palms and rested still -
There was a pair that stopped blinking
And failed to keep her head erect
One that wished so much right then
To find a bed and rest her head
Oh forgive me, kind teacher
For I do not on purpose do
This act that no good student should
Of sleeping while she sits in class
Understand me dear teacher
I am but a helpless prey
To an attack long and strong
From an uninvited nap,
No man or woman born till date
Can fight to kill or send away

Arundhati on slumdog
CAUGHT ON FILM: INDIA `NOT SHINING by Arundhati Roy The night before the Oscars, in India, we were re-enacting the last few scenes of Slumdog Millionaire. The ones in which vast crowds of people poor people who have nothing to do with the game show, gather in the thousands in their slums and shanty towns to see if Jamal Malik will win. Oh, and he did. He did So now everyone, including the Congress Party, is taking credit for the Oscars that the film won!The party claims that instead of India Shining it has presided over India Achieving Achieving what?
In the case of Slumdog, India greatest contribution, certainly our political parties greatest contribution is providing an authentic, magnificent backdrop of epic poverty, brutality and violence for an Oscar-winning film to be shot in. So now that too has become an achievement? Something to be celebrated? Something for us all to feel good about? Honestly, beyond farce. And here s the rub: Slumdog Millionaire allows real-life villains to take credit for its cinematic achievements because it lets them off the hook. It points no fingers, it holds nobody responsible.
Everyone can feel good. And that what I feel bad about. So that about whats not in the film. About whats in it: I thought it was nicely shot. But beyond that, what can I say other than that it is a wonderful illustration of the old adage, `theres a lot of money in poverty The debate around the film has been framed and this helps the film in its multi-million-dollar promotion drive in absurd terms. On the one hand we have the old patriots parroting the line that doesnt show India in a Proper Light(by now, even theyve been won over thanks to the Viagra of success). On the other hand, there are those who say that Slumdog is a brave film that is not scared to plum the depths of India not-shining.

From Dream to Nightmare: The American Tragedy
His family was the typical Indian family. Reserved, but jovial among friends. Economically secure.
This massacre has far-reaching consequences than just the personal losses of the families involved. The stereotype of the US Indian/Malayalee has been destroyed. Imagine the picture of a gun-totting malayalee. We are bright scientists, doctors accountants – submissive, docile and quiet. But not murderers, not mass killers. We weren’t, not until today. It would be easier to just pin the blame on the individual and dismiss the effect of social factors. But no longer. Everyone of us has friends or relatives living all over the world – in the US, UK, the Middle East. The indian diaspora is one of the largest in the world. We have depended on them for our survival, our economy. It is time we give them something back, give them the support they deserve. No longer see them as cows to milk. Study and analyse the problems they face.
"No man is an island, entire of itself;
Every man is a piece of the continent...
Each man's death diminishes me,
Because I am involved in mankind;
And therefore never send to know
For whom the bell tolls;
It tolls for thee."
(John Donne - For whom the Bell Tolls)
